As you all know our region suffered much destruction due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This situation has caused a moderate influx of students into our school system. The increased number of students has resulted in a shortage of classroom space, equipment, and budget cuts across the board. My class sizes have increased to the point of the cafeteria being the only place I can teach health. Our cafeteria is not technologically equipped. With the previously mentioned budget cuts, I do not foresee any new equipment being purchased by our school system. I am asking you today for help in acquiring a presentation station that includes a desktop computer,large screen television, scanner, printer, and cart. Having this equipment would allow me to show my students power points and help them create their own to present to the class. I would also be able to show students videos on our subject matter. Our children today are naive to the effects of their society on their health. In regards to the health problems facing our children, I've created informative power points, but with our increased number of students and lack of technological equipment it's very difficult to share this information. It is my job as a P.E./Health teacher of over 200 students to make them more aware. Your help in my quest for health conscious children is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
