This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For close to 8 years, the ART COLONY, an after-school program at our school, has encouraged students from 1st grade to 6th grade to develop their drawing skills. We want students to EXPLORE how to use different art media, LEARN about the elements and principles of art, and CREATE art pieces that they are proud of.
WE NEED PORTFOLIOS for students to showcase the art pieces that they have created.
So often, our students stuff their art projects in their backpacks unprotected and/or they place them in notebooks that are too small. The value and beauty of their work gets lost.
We want our students to treat their art pieces with the respect and care that they deserve. And, we feel that when they see their art work in portfolios, they will see THEMSELVES as professional artists.
