My Students

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. ~Albert Einstein Creativity, innovation, and thinking outside the box...let their imaginations run wild as students collaborate, create, edit, and produce projects with various media. It's Creative Common Core!

Each of our students have something to offer to our classroom and the world.

We believe in each and every one of our students and want to foster their creativity. Sometimes education can have the opposite effect while focusing on getting all the curriculum into the day. However, we believe creativity should be infused into all aspects of the curriculum. Our students are excited to learn and try new things. We have a safe classroom environment where students are encouraged to take risks while trying something new. James Russell Lowell once said, "creativity is not the finding of a thing, but the making something out of it after it is found." Providing students with a deep and complex look at a topic and allowing them access to the tools to apply their newfound knowledge, gives them the opportunity to connect the experiences they have had and synthesize new things.

My Project

The creativity is endless when students have access to a Macbook Pro. Our students have had many opportunities to apply their knowledge through video and voice recordings, paper slide presentations, Skyping, and more. Yet, their creativity has had a limitation when it came to the tools available to them. With a Macbook Pro, we can nourish the many talents and strengths of our students. Students can add piano music to the background of their video or create a song to help students remember certain facts from a lesson. The Macbook would give the power back to the students to apply their creativity and imagination. We will have a class "Apple Genius" to offer his expertise while students are working on their projects. Our student musicians will be available to anyone in need of a musical component for their project. Let's infuse creativity back into the classroom and foster the synthesis and application of new ideas.

This project will have a direct effect on over 100 students a year, offered as a tool for creating projects across the curriculum.

Let's generate some ideas together and then put those ideas into production! We want to teach our students that creativity is looking at things in a different way, while taking risks, and following their enthusiasm. After all, creativity is a natural extension of our enthusiasm.
