Preschoolers Birdwatchers Building Their Bird Knowledge

Help me give my students new bird books, new bird manipulatives, bird specimens and bird toys to enhance our learning.

My Project

Since April 2020, I have led my students through learning about birds through birdwatching, studying local birds, reading field guides and with activities in their play. This year, a coworker and I won a grant to further enhance this unit. We will have bird experts join us on walks through the neighborhood to learn more about birds native to our area.

Through this grant, I am requesting fiction and nonfiction books about birds we might see in our community.

In addition, I am requesting scientific kits for us to learn about birds and manipulatives that will help us learn about birds through play.

I believe teaching students to learn about nature not only will impact their social emotional development and mental health, but will also help them understand how important it is to care for our planet. Thank you for your consideration!
