Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our School is a Title 1 school in Los Angeles. Our students are special because they are just beginning their school careers. Students in our Early Childhood Special Education program are identified with different disabilities primarily autism, speech impairments, and intellectual disabilities.

Our program is a preschool program, where students can attend district preschool classes daily with supports embedded to help them succeed in daily life and engage with their classroom peers.

Our students practice language and social skills and study through hands on themes to build literacy, math, and cognitive abilities.

Part of what makes life in our Early Childhood Special Education classroom great is that every day our students have new opportunities, to learn, play, and grow together. We strive for progress not perfection, in understanding that each of us learn differently and therefore receive tailored, hands-on instruction on the daily.
