Our Preschool Varying Exceptionalities classrooms come with many beautiful children that are living with special needs.
We learn and understand new concepts best with hands-on activities and manipulatives.
Many of our friends don't have the opportunity to engage in materials that the non Title 1 schools have due to lack of funding and support. These materials will create a fun and exciting environment to inspire math knowledge in preparation for Kindergarten. Our new math skills will help bridge the gap and prepare us to participate with confidence in the Inclusive Kindergarten classroom!
My Project
Children love mathematics during the preschool years! When they are given opportunities and fun manipulatives to use math and logical thinking they develop necessary skills needed in Kindergarten. These skills to help children develop number sense, spatial sense, imagination, flexibility, and persistence. Having this knowledge before they go to Kindergarten ensures their academic success and prepares them to learn more challenging concepts that will be introduced. Making math fun will decrease the chances of frustration and confusion when learning basic math concepts. We will model the appropriate use of these materials to ensure concepts are understood before students use them independently.
