Children in our program have been specifically selected to be a part of our free Preschool programs to help them prepare for vigorous curriculum in kindergarten. All children come from homes with challenges (low income, special needs, languages spoken other than English, refugee status, and many more) that may impact their physical and emotional growth.
Preschool students in our classrooms are representatives of several different countries!
While our students are diverse, they have common interests and love to build on what they have experienced in life.
Our Preschool students are eager, and willing to engage in any project that uses their body. Our students easily engage in play concepts because it is easy for them to understand whatever language they speak. Conversing with students during their exploration of materials and in different environments allow me to naturally introduce academic concepts and language skills.
My Project
I need materials that will support activities that students are already working on. I plan to use the chalk that was selected for children’s art work outside. The board games and literacy materials will be used throughout the day to increase math and literacy work and exposure.
Children will love the board games that focus on counting and help develop mathematical thinking.
What would childhood be like without the classic Candyland game for learning colors and turn taking and Hi Ho Cherry O for learning counting and waiting patiently, all skills that my students need to work on.
Your donation to my project will ensure the materials that we need are available for my students to explore.
