We love to move and be active, but when it comes time to sit and listen our odd assortment of chairs makes it difficult. The hard plastic seats are slippery and too high off the floor. The smaller students slide off sometimes when they wiggle. My students need sturdy chairs with sides to be safe.
I teach special needs children aged 3, 4, and 5 in a public school where 90% of the students qualify for free lunch.
They love music,so even the children with communication delays will follow along with my hand gestures. Their favorite songs are "I Am a Pizza" and "Animal Action", but my assistant likes "Letter Sounds Yo-yo". (hip-hop version)
My students enjoy sitting on my one patched up beanbag, but they have trouble sitting comfortably on the carpet. The cube chairs and floor pillows will be used for morning circle time, and working with floor activities like the giant puzzles. They will be more comfortable and safe, so staying on task should be easier. These easy to clean chairs are also lightweight and easy to move around the room for other activities, instead of metal legs getting scraped across the tile.
My students will appreciate the bright colors and fun soft places to sit.
Our current menagerie of chairs can go in the corner for when we invite friends to the room. I can't wait to see their smiles.
