My Students

Welcome to my classroom: Play-Doh is stuck to the table, blocks are stacked on the floor, and a small shovel of sand just spilled under the sensory bin. Most importantly, joy, laughter, and inspiration are witnessed at every turn. In preschool, we learn how to play and we play in order to learn.

I am an early childhood special education teacher for an all-inclusive preschool program.

My classroom is located in a Title I funded elementary school in a small, rural town. Most of my students have special education needs in one or more developmental areas, such as communication, social and emotional skills, motor development, cognitive function, and self-help skills. Some of my students have disabilities such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome.

I have a morning and an afternoon class that are both in session Monday through Thursday. My students are three to five-years-old. Most of my younger students attend the morning class, while my older students come to my afternoon class and have a stronger focus on kindergarten readiness. All of my students demonstrate a love for learning, and I am honored to be a part of fostering their growth.

My Project

All preschoolers love to rock, roll, and climb! These items will not only support the students in my class. They will be used for our entire preschool playground which serves four developmental preschool classes, an ECEAP program, and two co-operative preschool classes.

The caterpillar climbing toy, trampoline, climbing cube, and rocking wooden boat will help my students practice and improve gross motor skills such as balance, strength, and hand-eye coordination while having loads of fun!

These items promote social skills by encouraging kids to take turns or work together to get the most out of an activity. The equipment will inspire my students to practice healthy habits such as exercising and moving their bodies in new, exciting ways.
