Preschool Blocks Center to Explore and Learn!

Help me give my students unit wood blocks, storage cabinet, and rug to build our preschool block center!

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. L. Walker's classroom raised $756

My Students

My scholars are a lively group of Preschoolers that live in a rural community on Hawai'i Island. Their passion for learning new things is so inspiring despite the challenges the world has experienced during this pandemic.

For most of them, this is their first experience in school and in a real classroom.

As their teacher, I hope to provide opportunities for learning where they will nurture their early reading and math skills, begin to build their critical thinking processes, and encourage them to explore and wonder about their world.

My Project

Having a Block Center in the Preschool Classroom is vital for motor development and is where many young children are first introduced to concepts of architecture and engineering. Our current block center is in desperate need of building blocks. This project is designed to provide our preschoolers with the opportunity to explore, design and build with wooden blocks while having fun!

To introduce these blocks, we will create an intentional learning activity where preschoolers will design a bridge, build a prototype, then test their "construction creations".

After this initial activity, the project supplies will be stored in the storage cabinet in the block center and students will have access to them daily during center time. We will be using the rug in the Block Center so preschoolers can sit comfortably on the floor when constructing their creations. Our preschoolers will also be able to build social skills by learning to share, take turns, and cooperate with others when playing in the center together.
