Help me give my students what they need by blocking out the everyday noises present in my home while teaching through the use of the Apple Airpods that can be paired with my MacBook.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach eighth-grade low-income students that are looking for new avenues for learning. My students are eager to challenge their minds and their thinking on topics that interest them most. Often times they engage in academic activities due to compliance sake, however, my students often voice their interest in engaging activities they can directly relate with. This is the reason I am looking to incorporate resources that will further expose them to in-the-now situations they can directly connect with.
My students have a hard time building educational resources of their own in their homes due to lack of financial stability.
Their main source of rich learning resources is usually what I can offer, which can sometimes be pretty limited. On one occasion I had an eighth-grade student bring in a garbage bag full of books he had gradually taken from our classroom library over the school year. Although impressed, I felt a bit heart-broken that he had not had the rich text to be able to keep in his household.
I believe the sky is the limit for my children as long as they are provided the necessary resources to push them forward!
My Project
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of teaching from home it is not always easy to provide the best learning space for my scholars. I find myself navigating my home to identify the best well-lit area in my space which can be quiet challenging. Even steering clear of the children that reside with me, to not interfere with their learning and vise versa. This is why I think the items I chose would make our lives a bit easier as we navigate each academic day.
The Ring Light will allow for me to light up any area of my home no matter where I station myself to insure my students can see me clearly and not miss out on any essential instruction.
Often times my house is quiet noisy in the morning and throughout the day. Between my dog and two children it is challenging to stay in tune with what is going on in front of me. This is why I believe the Apple Airpods would work wonders cancelling out any distracting noises as I pair them with my Macbook. Also, incorporating an instant office in my home can be quiet obvious, so the highlighters, sticky notes and stapler will allow me to keep order without things getting out of hand and looking a mess.
