This year my students will all be working on projects for the National History Day competition which would enable them to learn more about history and experience what it is like to partake in a conference. This year's theme for National History Day is Rights and Responsibilities which allows students explore the duality between the two topics. One medium for this competition is creating a poster which is a great opportunity for students to showcase their creativity. The poster boards, colored paper, and card stock paper are materials my students will use when designing and decorating their posters. My goal is to have all of my students participate in National History Day which means over 100 students will be creating projects.
A majority of my students do not have access to supplies to create a poster so I want to provide the materials for them so they can focus on their research.
I have a diverse range of students who all come from various backgrounds. To help ensure every student has access, I want to make sure I have enough materials available for them to create and showcase their abilities. Ultimately, the students will present their work not only at school and for their parents, but it will be submitted to the National History Day competition in Maui.
The other items in the project are for the classroom, specifically for me to use to help design and teach my lessons. An all-in-one desktop would be perfect for the classroom as I need a computer that I can use at work for lesson planning and teaching. Similarly, the microwave is a need in the classroom for both my co-teacher and myself as we typically bring lunch that requires a microwave.
