Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items in this project will help ensure that the students in my first grade class feel welcomed and represented as they embark on a new school year. The books in this project will be read throughout the year and will encourage students along their literacy journey. The headphones, plastic drawer storage organizers, calendar items, and mesh pouches will support me in creating classroom routines and rituals that allow students to feel safe and welcomed.

This project will provide my first grade students with materials and books that will warmly invite them into a new school year.

Working in a classroom with culturally and linguistically diverse students gives me the opportunity to present materials that are representative of themselves and also offer them windows into the cultures of others. The students that I work with are incredibly kind, hardworking, and motivated to learn. I appreciate all of your support in championing upcoming first graders.
