it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school in East Side San José, our students are bold creators with big visions—but limited tools. This project will introduce them to CNC routing using the Shapeoko 5 Pro, a powerful machine that bridges the worlds of art, STEM, and engineering.
We’re requesting the Shapeoko 5 Pro CNC router along with a 65mm VFD Spindle Kit and a Carbide Compact Router.
This setup will allow our students to safely explore digital fabrication, precision carving, and large-scale sign making. They’ll turn their ideas into real-world objects, learning how to design digitally, calibrate tools, and cut materials like wood and acrylic.
Students will gain experience in CAD design, toolpath creation, and machine operation—all essential skills in modern fabrication and design fields. Whether it’s student-led signage for school events, branding for student businesses, or original art pieces, the possibilities are endless.
