This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first grade teacher at a title 1 school is Pittsburg, CA. and I am continually asking the students to bring in pictures from home so that we can make a connection from home to school. My students rarely bring pictures in and I just could not understand this. One day, I asked my students why they did not bring any pictures in, and they simply said "We don't have any." It never occurred to me that they may not have pictures. What I would like to do is build a bridge between school and home by taking pictures through out the year and creating a scrapbook. At the end of every month I would like to have the students pick out a couple of pictures and make a page. Part of this project would be that the students will have to write their own captions. We will also include writing samples from the beginning to the end of the year. At the end of the year they will be able to take the book home and share their memories with their families. This will help to create positive school memories and help the parents share in these memories. This is a three part proposal. This part of the proposal is for the digital camera that I would use to take pictures during school and at our monthly family fun night. I believe a digital camera is the only way for me to create this project. This year I ask the students to each donate 1 disposable camera, but I only received one camera and the cost to develop film really adds up. I am also not the greatest photographer so being able to delete unwanted photos is a must
