My students need the document camera so we can view materials up close and personal and share our experiences. We are fostering future minds of tomorrow!

We are a prekindergarten class located within the South Bronx. Our program works with mostly shelter and low income families. The Pre-k program is an essential part of our community. It provides young children the opportunity to gain a solid foundation for which all other academic development will occur.
We are a virtual melting pot of cultures, personalities and socio-economic backgrounds, so creating a well diversed classroom atmosphere is challenging, but will always be my top priority.
We are constantly seeking activities that focus on using their imagination and allows open ended questions to fuel and feed their quest for knowledge.
As their teacher, it is my job to support my students in a way that their education is not being hindered by just what I know, but is being fostered by activities and experiences that are fueled by their own need to understand the world around them.

Pre-Kindergarten is a whole new adventure for most of my students. Majority of them are experiencing school for the first time in their lives. It's exciting, scary, and intriguing all at the same time! I want to make their life science experiences strong and I want to create an educational environment that will allow them to explore science manipulatives at their own pace. Being able to interact with the three specimen sets would allow them to see real insects and animals up close and personal in a controlled environment. The Super Bug set would allow the children to observe insects in a larger than life form. This opportunity would foster a positive relationship with the world around them.
Developing a well rounded science center, ensures that my students are exposed to nature in a way that will pique their interest, foster intense positive play and create future scientist of tomorrow!
Providing us with the technology of the external CD / DVD Drive and document camera would allow us to have access to magnification capabilities, videos, interactive science programs and apps., which can be stored in a safe place to be used over and over again as needed.
The content of our science area, is out dated and minimal at best, so your donation would bring some much needed life to that area of our classroom. We work hard every day to learn how to positively engage with material and people. Each area of our classroom should exhibit a well thought out design, where learning can be expanded upon! We could use the Pet Tornado set to observe natural occurrences in a way that we are not able to in real life. All of the materials would be a great asset to our pre-kindergarten Program!
