My classroom is filled with 15 excited, eager preschoolers who love to learn every day! Our classroom is located inside a public school which services students Pre-K through 3rd grade. Known as a center school, our students come from three rural communities comprised of mostly family farms. The students in my At-Risk Pre-Kindergarten classroom attend all day to better prepare them for the transition to Kindergarten. These little learners love learning through play, exploration, and meaningful hands-on educational experiences. Students in my classroom freely move through different learning centers. They are free to explore the materials in these centers and learning experiences are more meaningful and child based.
Squeeze it, cut it, shape it and mold it, however we use it play dough is a vital part of my early learning classroom. Long before my students can write their names independently, we begin working on strengthening their fine motor muscles by playing and exploring with play dough. Students get the chance to roll, cut, snip and mold play dough at a specific center just dedicated to working with play dough in my classroom. The materials in my project are just what we need to ensure that every student has their own pair of play dough scissors, rollers, and tools for use with their play dough. Play dough is one of the favorites in my classroom and these materials will just help elevate my students exploration with it to the next level.
