Our city is one of the most diverse cities in the entire nation! Our student population comes from various countries and languages. A large percentage of our students are English Language Learners and many already speak two languages. As an urban district, most of our students fall under the poverty line and receive free or reduced price lunch.
Our preschool classrooms are vibrant.
They are filled with children that are excited to learn and happy to be at school. Pre-k is an essential time for children to practice early academics, as well as social skills. Our classroom is a safe and nurturing place where children become active participants in the learning process.
I love being a pre-kindergarten teacher because our students are so eager and excited to learn. They are not afraid to ask questions, try new things or simply say "I love you". I want to provide an environment for them that will support their needs in entirety.
My Project
Pre-K students are remarkably creative and all of our children love to write! Each morning we sign in using expo markers and "dry-erase" laminated sheets. Children sign their name and erase their signature at the end of the day to conserve paper. With these markers and dry erase boards children will be able to continuously write throughout the day while being Eco-friendly! They will be free to move throughout the classroom and write whatever they wish! With use of their seat-sacks children will be able to retrieve and put away their writing materials independently. Having seat sacks gives children an opportunity to take responsibility of their own school supplies.
