Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are Pre-k students aged from 4 to 5. The school is located in the Bronx, NYC. During the school day, students play at a dramatic play center. They like to pretend playing different roles st the different center times. The various centers promote children with language developments and learn social skills. Many students enjoy building different building models at the block center. They love to share their work with others.
The children are very excited to go outside to play.
They love to run and play with balls and look forward to going to gym class. They get so excited when I announce that they have gym for the day. They love to come to school and enjoy learning with their friends and teachers.
My Project
My students are from low income families in the Bronx, NYC. 100% of my students are learning remotely at home. During this COVID-19, I will not be able to make any worksheet copies for my students. I believe that children who spend more time working with a pen and paper over typing have stronger reading and spelling skills because writing activates the parts of the brain that controls the ability to read. Pre-writing skills are the fundamental skills children need to develop before they are able to write. These skills contribute to the child's ability to hold and use a pencil, and the ability to draw, write, copy, and color. A major component of pre-writing skills are the pre-writing shapes.
This workbook will provide my students practice writing letters and numbers at home.
This workbook includes pre-writing skills such as pencil tracing, coloring with crayons and identifying shapes. I would like my students to develop their fine motor skills (pencil grip) using this workbook.
