Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students tend to get overstimulated at school, and they often need a place to cool down. They are all working and learning to manage their sensory needs independently. We try to have as many resources as possible to help my students meet their sensory needs.

A sensory hideaway like the Cozy Cube would be a great place for my students to go when they need to calm down.

A hideaway area in the classroom would give students an area in the classroom to feel safe and comforted. Most of my students enjoy compression and weighed vests and blankets, because of the feeling that it gives them. A sensory area where they can crawl in and "hide" would have the same effect. When they are overwhelmed, this would give them a safe place to calm down and give them some privacy as well.
