My Students
Hello everyone! We are located right in the heart of the Bronx, extremely close to the Yankee Stadium. This site is a Title 1 school. The setting is a Monolingual classroom, which includes 1 general education teacher (myself) and 15 amazing little ones who are in-person. Most of my students speak different languages ( Spanish, Arabic, French & Creole). They are very energetic. According to the U.S. Department of Education, Title 1, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools with high numbers or high percentages of students from low-income families to help ensure that all students meet challenging state academic standards.
My Project
This school year has been difficult for the children and teachers alike. With the children receiving full in-person, five days a week instruction, it has been extremely difficult for students to engage like normal. My classroom is in desperate need of STEAM materials. My class would especially benefit from Melissa and Doug Building Blocks, which would allow them to create different structures and use their motor skills. Similarly, my class also would benefit from 4E’s Toys Straw Constrictor STEM Building Toys, which also helps their motor skills. Another building kit for my classroom that my students would love is a LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick Box, with 790 pieces. These building kits, along with the other interactive toys I have on my list, will help foster creativity and ingenuity within my classroom. It's important to include manipulative resources in pre-school. Play as theory demonstrates that most of our brain development happens in our early life.
