My Project

I never thought I would have to ask for basic classroom supplies. I have often created fun projects to enhance our learning environment, expand our class library, or create the opportunity for a special projects. But times have changed. Previously promised federal funding was ripped from our school district after the funds had already been allocated.

I am requesting math manipulatives for my young learners to explore basic math concepts. From counting to measuring to patterns, math is all around us. At a young age, the simplest of math skills are learned through play. I am asking for various counters to use for counting, patterning and sorting. My project also is for shapes and numerals to help link our play to geometry and abstract representations of numerals to physical objects. Math games help facilitate independent community play where my students can follow rules together without direct adult interaction which fosters both independence and social skills and problem solving.
