Laying the foundation for a love of reading is one of my passions. I want my students to truly enjoy stories. You have made that a reality for us. I am able to select any one of these amazing books and create experiences that students will remember. \r\n My students may not be able to read the words, but they love to retell the story by looking at the pictures. They especially loved, \"Tap the Magic Tree\". It is an interactive story that asks children to do various actions that brings the story to life. They loved tapping, shaking, brushing and knocking on the pages to make the tree change. Another favorite story was, \"Polar Bear's Underwear\". As Polar Bear tried to find his underwear, each page became a guessing game. My students loved it!\r\n These opportunities were only possible because you supported us. Last year, our staff and children were exposed to the elements, making the rest of the day uncomfortable, especially when the poor weather would occur during arrival. Rather than having staff and children becoming exposed to poor weather, we created the project to protect them.\r\nWhen the project was funded, it was kept quiet, because who doesn't love a surprise?! When the umbrellas began to arrive, curiosity peaked with questions of what was in the all of the big boxes. Once the boxes were opened and an email was shared to spread the good news, the staff were excited knowing that they would be able to cover the children, preventing them from getting soaked.\r\nWell mother nature has a sense of humor, sending no rain during arrival or dismissal in September and most of October. However, on October 30th, the skies opened with torrential rain all day directly into dismissal. Due to the umbrellas that you generously provided through your donation, our children and our staff were protected! I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and helping us to keep dry! The umbrellas are sturdy and were able to withstand the wind gusts as well as the rain, leading to happy families and a very happy staff! They all really enjoy using play do and they are all working on improving their fine motor strength, so this particular material was great.
