This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our class has been learning about our five senses, including our sense of taste. When discussing our sense of taste many important discussion arose including healthy food accessibility and developing practical life skills. To encourage our students to make healthy choices and become aware of food accessibility we aim to create a farmers market where our students can engage in imaginative play, role-playing as farmers, shoppers, and community members.

Additionally, we plan to incorporate real-life cooking experiences into our curriculum.

By offering these play food items, you would be helping us create a meaningful learning experience that not only promotes creativity but also introduces our pre-kindergarten students to the joy of cooking and healthy food preparation. Through hands-on cooking activities, our students will learn about nutrition, food safety, and the importance of making healthy food choices.

This initiative will empower our pre-kindergarten students to understand the impact of food availability on individuals and communities, fostering empathy and a sense of social responsibility. By providing them with the necessary tools and resources, we can inspire a lifelong appreciation for healthy eating and the importance of food accessibility for all.
