My Project
Primary-aged students need plenty of practice mapping out words by identifying the number of phonemes (sounds) and then matching those with the graphemes (letters).
Elkonin boxes are a great tool to help students move from sounds to spelling.
It helps them recognize the sounds in a word and then use that knowledge to apply it towards spelling. This project would allow protective pocket sheets and dry erase markers for students to use during whole and small group instruction.
When students are able to spell words, it helps to recognize their knowledge of sound-symbol relationships.
