Help me give my students a practice tuba so they can improve at home.

My Students
Our band students are extremely diverse. Many speak Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Urdu, or Uzbek and home. However, despite their differences, they all come together to make music. The great thing about our band program is that you don't need to be an academic all-star to be successful. We all communicate through the language of music, so everyone has the same fair shot to be outstanding.
Our students are passionate and take music very seriously.
We have won many awards for outstanding performances and have packed concerts at school. Our students' parents value their music education.
My Project
Practicing at home is the best predictor for success on an instrument. I require students to practice several times per week. Most students are able to bring their instruments home without issue. However, one instrument's size makes this difficult. A regular tuba is quite large and challenging for most students to bring home to practice. Our tubas weight between 50 and 60 pounds!
We are hoping to buy a plastic tuba that students can bring home to practice.
The tuba is made of durable plastic and weights about 60% less than the regular metal tuba. The goal is to eventually buy enough of these plastic tubas so each tuba player can bring one home for the year.
I always tell students that the tuba is the most important instrument in our band because it plays the lowest notes. Our band cannot sound good without a good tuba section. This project helps all of our students because a confident tuba player will make everyone sound great.
