My students need these JBL Flip 4 Portable Bluetooth Speakers to transform our practice spaces. We use recorded part tracks to rehearse in sectionals, and these speakers make each of those rooms usable for that purpose!

My Students
The students in my chorus program are builders of community. Our school is one of the most diverse schools in our area, with a very wide range of economic and ethnic backgrounds. They are accepting and welcoming to all. Everyone has a home in our chorus family!
The students in our choirs work far above and beyond what is required of similar students to bring music to life for our community.
Each of them spends significant time outside the classroom to be adequately prepared for our exciting performances. They are shining examples of what high school students can achieve when they are challenged!
My Project
One of the most cumbersome realities of the choral rehearsal is that working with one section at a time reduces the choir from 100% engaged to sometimes as little as 25% engaged or less. This happens most often when one section is more unsure of their part than the others. The solution? Sectional rehearsals!
Having a bluetooth speaker in each sectional rehearsal gives student leaders the tool they need to efficiently prepare their fellow singers for the combined rehearsal.
Most students have limited piano proficiency, and this tool will help them overcome the obstacle for the good of the choir.
Currently, students use their phones to play the tracks. The obvious issues with that are that 1) phones only play back a limited frequency range (that is, not much bass is heard, which negatively impacts the rehearsal); and 2) the volume is much too soft once the students begin to sing. Our rehearsals will be much more efficient and effective!
