My Project
The percussionists in our music program are some of my favorite people on the planet. Hard-working, energetic, and fun to be with, and they bring the GROOVE to every performance we play. We're lucky to have three fantastic percussion ensembles that make the building TREMBLE when we bring out the Dragon Drum Line. Being loud is definitely part of being a drummer, but it's not the only part.
We need new practice pads to replace our old, worn-out equipment.
A practice pad feels just like a snare drum when you play it, but is MUCH quieter. This is a necessity when 30 twelve-year-olds are practicing their drum rolls and paradiddles at the same time in a small classroom! Drummers have used practice pads for decades to develop their skills without driving their neighbors crazy; we rely on them for daily instruction and student practice sessions, and our old set of pads has received quite a beat-down over the past six years.
These new Evans "Real-Feel" pads that we are hoping to acquire are an improvement over our current pads - not only do they mimic the feeling of a snare drum, but they're made of fewer parts and are more durable than our current tunable pads. Donating to this project will directly result in improved hands, protected ears, and big smiles!
