My Students
My class is an Extensive Support Needs Self Contained Class. My students have been identified as having Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, Speech and Language delay. The lessons I typically prepare are mostly modified to their specific learning skill level. I provide them with meaningful connection of their learning activities and high-interest topics that addresses their functional academic skills.
Being back to in-person learning has created a challenge for many students as they are faced with different routines and still ensure learning in the classroom.
Students rely greatly on visual presentations and simple verbal instructions in class.
My Project
This project will create a learning opportunity for my students to practice speaking and learn simple responsibilities in the classroom such as, reporting and printing.
With this standing desk, they will have the opportunity to learn and practice speaking through simple reporting of calendar, weather, or reading the news in front of the class.
The printer will serve as a tool for my students to learn how to operate and print their own work to show in class. This project will be a great way to improve their confidence and work behavior.
