My Students
Our student-athletes are from all over the city of Boston, from every neighborhood, community, racial & ethnic group, socio-economic bracket... and from every walk of life. This year we were able to offer middle school soccer for the first time; this allowed us to establish a pipeline of approximately 60 players in grades 7 - 12 who play at the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels--the first of its kind in the Boston City League.
There is one thing our athletes have in common: They work extraordinarily hard to achieve their full potential and are invested in the process of building a community that our school can be proud of.
We would like to provide them with the resources they need to compete at the highest level. Although we receive some funding from the city, we struggle to provide them with adequate supplies and gear and depend on an incredible staff of volunteer coaches who are dedicated to increasing opportunities for urban public school students.
My Project
We would like high-quality soccer balls for our practices and especially for match (competition) play. Currently, we use balls that deflate and wear down quickly. We are an urban, city-league team that recently qualified for the state tournament for the first time in years, and won our first round match! Our players have incredible technical ability and working with higher calibre equipment that is commensurate with their talent would even the playing field when we compete against better-resourced suburban schools. The Select soccer balls are high quality, durable, under warranty for three years, and are certified by FIFA, IMS and the NFHS.
