My Students
Reading skills and strategies are essential to practice daily. The more fun it can be, the better the students will learn these skills and truly start to practice them. I need fun ways to engage my students in reading. Games are a great way to get them excited about reading!
My students are wonderful children that have pushed through many adverse situations.
They need a lot of support, guidance, and motivation. They range in ability levels from below grade level to above grade level. I have many second language learners that need a lot of support in reading. They learn so much from one another each day and respond greatly to fun and engaging ways of learning such as songs, games, interactive learning and group projects.
My students are making growth in reading each and every day and are trying so hard to meet their expectations. We have come a long way and will continue to push our students each day.
Their school is a high poverty school in which we are trying to improve parent involvement every day. Nevertheless, our students need a lot of support in many different ways.
My Project
The comprehension games I am requesting will be used as reading workstations in the classroom. Our reading block is divided into many different stations as well as a shared reading block. Some students may be working with a teacher in a small group while others are working independently in engaging reading stations.
These games will keep students engaged throughout the reading block and really have fun with their learning. The more they enjoy what they are doing, the more they are likely to remember the strategies and skills that are essential to their reading development.
This project will be an amazing contribution to our classroom.
Not only will my students be engaged in reading, but they will also learn how to work cooperatively and have fun while improving their reading skills. Reading is SUCH an important part of our students lives and they need as many reinforcements as possible to ensure that they are engaged in reading.
