Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am excited to start my first year of teaching to an amazing group of culturally and linguistically diverse Kindergarten students. My students come with linguistic resources and experiences, but still face hardships out of their control to be successful in their learning. Many of my students do not have extra supplies at home to help them with enrichment and practice.
My students are eager, willing, and looking for equitable opportunities to be successful.
My students are part of a Dual Language program with bilingual and biliterate end goals. My students will have a strong language, literacy, and cultural focus in my classroom. Because many of my students have not attended preschool, I want to be able to provide them with practice at home to further develop their foundational skills, fine motor skills, and build fun activities to engage them and their families in their learning.
My Project
I want to be able to create a learning activity binder for all of my students to be able to practice at home through interactive practice of their foundational skills, and further develop their fine motor skills. Our district will start virtual learning this fall, therefore I want my kids to continue to develop their fine motor skills at home by practicing writing, tracing, letter formation. As well as practicing reading, sight words, small stories, and chants to follow along while remote learning through fun and engaging learning tasks. This is an essential tool that will be used both at home with families, and online whole group practice.
