Practical Additions to Our First Grade Classroom

My Students

Our elementary school is located right in the middle of a major Big 10 university area, so diversity is a large part of our everyday life. We have students from many different countries all coming together in one, big, classroom family. Creating a space that caters to all learners is a priority in my classroom. I am always looking for ways to make my classroom as inclusive as possible. In first grade, students are still very active young people! Ensuring that our young learners still experience play-based learning as well as have the opportunity for the movement and stimulation they need is always a priority.

My Project

This project and its materials will be used to help my students and me during the school year in the midst of a time in education unseen for over a hundred years. While our classroom will be starting in-person learning to begin our year, having the resources and materials necessary if we move to e-learning will be a great asset to our room.

Students need individual hooks to place their items in a safe space at their desks in order to lessen the spread of any potential germs.

Individual privacy folders will not only be used during testing times but can also be used to help keep distance and space in the classroom for little learners who often struggle to safely or properly use PPE.
