I am a diverse learner educator for students at an inner-city, public school that offers individualized instruction to students who are eager to approach learning using the most innovative ways that can be given to them for success.
My school is centered in a community deemed as low socioeconomic, and it has a high population of English language learners and special needs students.
My students are energetic, yet extremely challenged when practicing higher-order thinking skills due to the limited resources and lack of funding to our school community.
Being present in the reality that the pandemic is still a major concern in our nation and schools still operating in full capacity, it is imperative to provide the essentials needed for the survival and security of the students. I believe that it is critical that students have the opportunity to ease the mental and emotional pressures of returning to school by ensuring their safety at all times, as well as to continue to excel in their studies. Many times, students lack the resources that will promote healthy safe practices at home or within the classroom. Therefore, as an educator who adores her students, I have made their health and wellness a priority.
I believe that it is imperative to give students the essential resources that are needed to promote a healthy and safe learning environment.
It is extremely crucial that students have access to the necessary items that are needed to keep them safe at school.
Due to students being solely confined to one space for the entire day, my students need to have the necessary supplies to feel safe and comfortable. The use of hands-free soap dispenser, refills, and wipes will allow them to effectively shelter-in-place and allow disinfecting to occur constantly in the classroom. All of these resources are not readily available to students and I desire to be a resource to offer assurance to my students and parents which ultimately impacts their learning at school.
