Powering Up Potential — A Charging Cart for Our Classroom

My Project
I teach an energetic group of students at a Title I school where many come from low-income families and face daily challenges outside the classroom. Despite this, they show up curious and ready to learn—especially when it comes to STEM. They love exploring science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on activities and digital tools.
Technology is essential to how we explore STEM in our classroom—from coding and simulations to research and interactive lessons.
But with only three outlets in the entire room, my students struggle to keep their computers charged. Without a charging cart, devices die in the middle of lessons, cutting off access to key learning opportunities. This project will provide a secure and efficient charging cart that can power all student laptops in one place.
This charging cart will remove a major obstacle and ensure every student has access to the tools they need to dive into STEM learning. It will support teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking—all skills that are vital in the 21st-century world. In a low-income setting like ours, having reliable access to working technology can help close the opportunity gap and keep every student engaged and included.
