Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has economically disadvantaged kindergarten through fifth students who cannot afford basic necessities. We have a student body with over an 85% free or reduced-priced lunch rate. We also have a backpack program in which the students get nourishing foods to take home for holidays and weekends to ensure that they eat while away from us. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful rapport with our students. They are well-behaved and love to learn. They may come to school disadvantaged and from homes stricken with poverty, but they surely make up for it in the effort that they display in their learning.
My Project
We are requesting the PowerMyLearning package because we try to do everything possible to bring our student, families, and educators together to better serve our students.
We believe that with a subscription to PowerMyLearning our teachers can engage families in our families with multilingual home playlists.
The students become the teacher at home. This reinforces the students' learning and helps to lead their families through the different home learning activities. Teachers can get feedback from families on student comprehension and learn more about students’ home life too. This bridges many gaps for multilingual families.
Another amazing offering through this offer is the Professional Development that up to 4 of our teachers will receive. It is not often that we can be fully trained how to use a new piece of software. This is an awesome addition to help not only our families with limited English proficiency, but the staff that is so eager to help!
