Powerful Picture Books

Help me give my students these award-winning books to enhance their love of reading and prepare them for our District's Picture Book Reading Bowl.

My Project

My 2nd and 3rd grade students are avid readers! They enjoy all types of books and willingly challenge themselves to read longer and more difficult texts. They are creative, fun-loving, and competitive.

These diverse, award-winning picture books will inspire them to read with attention to detail and allow them to compete in our annual Picture Book Reading Bowl.

The buzzers will also allow us to practice "buzzing in" before answering questions about the books, which is a key element of the reading bowl and a great way to practice focus and self control.

Participation in the reading bowl creates a unique purpose for reading, which in turn drives my students to hone their reading and listening comprehension skills. We can read these books together and individually, allowing students at all reading levels to be supported. The books will be at the center of our classroom reading community!
