I believe in the power of using high-quality literature in my classroom. I am confident that my students grow immensely as readers by sharing powerful picture books as mentor texts.
My students are an integral part of the largest school district in Indiana.
While over 70% of my students receive free or reduced priced lunches, they are inquisitive, hard-working, and eager to grow as readers. This is my students' first experience with a readers workshop and I need to ensure I am providing them with high-quality and powerful picture books daily.
My Project
I have selected twenty picture books that will be used for read alouds, mentor texts, writing techniques, independent reading, and for the pure enjoyment of reading. These texts will be used to help my students become thinkers about texts. I want my students to dig deep into texts and these twenty texts are perfect for that.
