As 4th graders, my students are eager to grow as critical thinkers and problem solvers! My students come from a variety of backgrounds including military families and low-income households.

Fourth graders enjoy participating in mini reading lessons and these powerful mentor texts will help my students continue to grow as readers. They also thrive on choice and motivation. My students will feel special and appreciated by being given the opportunity to choose where to sit in our classroom.
My Project
Flexible seating options will allow my students to feel comfortable during rigorous and collaborative learning activities. Flexible seating gives students choice and allows them to take charge of their learning! Making sure students feel comfortable is essential for maximizing academic success. When students are given choice they are more engaged and motivated. The bean bag and bouncy chairs will be used throughout the school day! They will allow my students to feel comfortable while working together.
Furthermore, these powerful and engaging mentor texts will be used during mini-lessons to introduce essential reading skills such as determining importance, inferring, and summarizing.
My students will be better able to grasp these skills using engaging text. They will be given the opportunity to revisit these texts to further their understanding.
