Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach students who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many students are still dealing with losses from the storm and its aftermath. We are working to not only rebuild our community, but to engage our students in meaningful ways through positive behavior supports and differentiated learning.
Our classroom intervention (Power Math) is in need of student and family focused activities and supports.
We want to afford students the opportunity to reflect on their interests, focus, and experience hands-on meaningful engagements.
In order to bridge the gaps created in their learning, the aim is to move toward
engagIng students and students’ families in a way that drives student achievement. We’d love the opportunity to bring the Family Engagement Innovators Program Into our classroom.

My Project
We’re looking to try something new! Through Donors Choose, there’s a great resource called The Family Engagement Innovators Program. Our classroom is teeming with excitement about this program that will allow for focus on interactive homework assignments. Students will be able to participate in digital activities. They will also be able to “teach” what they learn.
Their learning will be supported using fun, hands-on activities, both in and out of school .
Using the program will enable communication and foster stronger connections between home and school . We will learn and grow while engaging our families through innovative technologies that drive student mastery and social-emotional learning.
