My Students

My students truly love to be in school. When we had to go remote, they greeted me online every morning begging me to come back to the building. Luckily, they now greet me every morning in person, and each wearing smiles. Fingers crossed for the rest of the year!

My Project

When building a house, you lay a foundation. This ensures a stable base for the rest of the structure. If there is an unsteady foundation, your home will not be structurally sound and may collapse, or be unable to be built at all. The same is true for learning to read. If a student doesn't have the building blocks of reading, as "defined by the National Reading Panel, including phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency," then that student's foundation is faulty and may lead to future struggles reading and retaining information. By using the materials requested, phonics sets, flipbooks, and a digraphs match, students will build their phonemic awareness. Students will become more fluent decoding the sounds made by letters and letter combinations. This will ultimately lead to a stronger reading foundation and better overall reading skills!
