This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom consists of students with special needs ages 3-5. One of the goals we work on is potty training. Potty training can get messy, often with accidents, requiring a change of clothes. Our school is a Title 1 school, with many low-income families. Our students wear uniforms and it can be a hardship for families to send in an extra set of uniforms.
Help me communicate with my non-English speaking students and to maintain a supply of extra shorts, underpants, socks, wipes, and pull-ups for when our students have accidents with potty training.
Many of our students do not speak English. I plan to use the Pocketalk to help with two-way communication with these students to make certain their needs are met when they need help, especially with basic needs such as toileting and during meals.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
