My Students
Our students, our "kids", represent your typical inner-city school kids- kids full of ambition, passion and motivation that want to be able to learn, grow and succeed the same as kids all over this country. As teachers, we want to help nurture our kids and give them every opportunity to grow, and be confident in everything they do, no matter what obstacles they face.
I teach at a Title I school (100% free lunch) where the riots and civil unrest took place in Wisconsin in August 2016.
Our kiddos were resilient, expressed levels of maturity and understanding ahead of their years when discussing and understanding social justice, and even helped plant trees in the area in restoration efforts. My kids face countless obstacles daily concerning racism, poverty, violence and more...typical day to day school necessities, shouldn't be one of them. Thank you for taking the time to consider a wonderful group of kids that deserve every bit the opportunity as we try our best to provide.
My Project
I have a classroom full of Goldilocks who need chairs that are just right, for them! I have wigglers, and fidgeters, standers and leaners, and kiddos with such poor core development that it makes focusing and concentrating a grueling task.
This project is to procure comfortable and stability enhancing chairs and accessories to help with fidgeting, focus, core development and concentration.
Stability ball chairs promotes a healthy posture & keeps the mind focused and body engaged. These chairs are the perfect kid-sized seats for improving concentration & focus in the classroom and at their desks. The exercise ball chairs will help to reduce restlessness, fidgeting and prevent boredom. My students need seating options that fit their needs, allows them an environment conducive to their learning, and seats that help to encourage and promote a love for learning, by being comfortable!
The Bouncy Kids chair bands keep active children occupied so they will remain seated and can focus better. They can push, pull, kick, and bounce on the band with their feet while sitting. The chair bands are also a quiet way of releasing some extra energy while sitting for prolonged times.
