My Students

My students are amazing, marvelous and challenging on many levels. They come to school excited, eager to experience an exciting lesson. I often refer to them jokingly as “challenging customers” that refuse to accept second best. As I try my best to provide excellent customer service to my clientele, I find that it is never enough to just teach.

It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life and I am enjoying the ride.

Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I observe them interact with one another, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.

My Project

“Why vote?” they asked; "..... is going to win anyway” is a common phrase from my scholars. The scholars will get out the vote with their family members and in the school community by designing Vote buttons to wear and share with others.

There is no time like today to learn how voting impact everyone’s live even those that are not able to vote; we have the responsibility to prepare our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.

The scholars will create the designs and place it in our classroom shared drive. While we are out of the school building, I will print and make the buttons and Posters, deliver to the scholars and they will share with family members.

Thanks to your generous donations, my scholars will learn how crucial voting is and share that knowledge with the community at large. The voting will empower them and give them the self confidence to defend and promote their own ideas.
