I am the school librarian of 275 students in a small suburban/rural high school. My school is part of the Connecticut Alliance District program which supports the 33 lowest-performing districts in the state as they establish reforms to increase student performance and close achievement gaps. My students are passionate, resilient, kind, and thoughtful young people. Our incredibly caring staff works endlessly to challenge our students academically, support them emotionally, and celebrate their successes inside and outside the classroom. It is a great privilege to be their school librarian!
My Project
My students are craving opportunities to be creative, inquisitive, and more engaged in their learning! They have expressed interest in opportunities to create their own personalized learning experiences and pursue their goals. My high school library strives to connect our school community with information, ideas, and each other. Two years ago, we received a grant for a Cricut Explore Air 2, LEGOs, a button-maker machine, and other maker-space materials to promote personalized student-learning and foster connections between members of the school community. Although the library maker-space is temporarily closed, I would love to foster my students' digital creativity by providing them socially distanced opportunities to create posters, infographics, and other digital images using their one-to-one devices!
HP DesignJet ink cartridges and photo paper will help students learn STEAM skills and become enthusiastic, skilled, and creative problem-solvers.
As students design, build, and explore their creativity while making and building projects in the library, students become active creators and innovators of products and information rather than passive consumers. HP DesignJet ink cartridges and photo paper will allow students to publish and showcase their creative works in the school community.
