Post Pandemic Programming Perfection!

Help me give my students trauma release outlets with pandemic recovery items for successful after-school programming, multiple stage practices/performances, and community service projects!

My Students

I service students who require extensive one-on-one collaboration, suffer severely with poor test scores, and are faced with many instances of abuse, neglect, and trauma. However, my gems still manage to both consistently & eagerly yearn for success and overcome obstacles in their daily lives.

Being a Title I school, our scholars are often never allowed the same opportunities or advancements as other scholars, even as close as those a minimum of 5 miles away.

Research shows that both movement & art therapy integration instills value, calmness, and higher success rates in children and also teenagers. Our scholars need these necessities to begin our wellness journey! With these materials, my gems will be able to shine & smile thru the traumas of life. From stage performances, to community clean-ups…my gems deserve to be treated as the diamonds of which they are! My gems have some amazing hidden talents, & your generosity will miraculously bring them all to the forefront!

My Project

This project is both near & dear to my heart for a variety of reasons, but most important of all, it will most definitely make a huge difference, a lasting impact, & an impressionable mark on the fabric of the hearts in the heart of SE DC.

Outside of the traumas of these unprecedented times, coupled with the global pandemic, my gems not only live but are educated daily within one of the most crime infested neighborhoods of the Nation's Capitol.

My gems have witnessed, endured, & experienced high & intense levels of trauma, for a full 365 days+! Often overlooked, I have tried to create avenues and outlets for them to survive emotionally. While schools at least 7 miles away get the best foods, technology, & practices, we are continuously left or given the bottom of the barrel. While it is unfortunate, throughout every scenario, we teach our gems to rise!

This project will afford my gems the amazing opportunity to put on huge performances, have actual programming & practice materials, & provide a gateway for hidden talents to be brought to the forefront of our community! This project will allow my gems to experience a heightened realm of self-esteem, self-efficacy, perseverance, and team-building. This project will not only bring smiles to the faces of my gems, but to the stained fabric of the community overall! From outdoor stage performances, to community service projects, I ask that you will find in your heart of hearts to supply the needs of my gems, by creating this small outlet of self-empowerment, learning, and overall fun!
