Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach high school students. My students are so eager and excited to learn and to be successful in school and in life!
I teach in an inner-city school and most of my students are African-American or Hispanic.
All of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and receive free lunches. There is a lot of gang violence and crime in the surrounding neighborhoods, but my students are motivated to learn and to be the best they can be!
My Project
My students love working together to discuss concepts and create visuals that they can present. Their favorite way to do so is by creating colorful visuals on sticky post-it posters because this helps preserve our work.
We can then place the posters that the students have created strategically around the classroom for all students to continue enjoying and learning from.
Our posters are easy to move and can easily be put up to share or taken down when it is time to create new ones. The students are also very excited to write more and make the posters more colorful when they have scented markers.
