My Students

The students at my school come from diverse backgrounds and many are second language learners. We are a Title One school that has around 67% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch. They are quiet and often unengaged.

They need positive reinforcement to encourage them on their path.

This is what we are working on as a school community to build positive reinforcers to help them engage in school and realize their potential. Since COVID students have struggled with their identity and need positive support. Students will be able to earn positives in the form of points for acts of kindness, academic/behavioral growth and be recognized for what they bring to the school. These points will be redeemed at a school shop.

My Project

The requested resources will be part of our school store that students access through a positive reward system. Students have had a difficult time with their social-emotional health due to COVID. We have especially seen students that are more disengaged and struggle with focusing.

Focusing and recognizing the positive that our students do will help to build engagement and boost their social-emotional learning.

Our school-wide management system is based on positive reinforcement. As an Arts school, we have students that are excited and learning about the arts. Using the arts as a catalyst to provide items that students at our school cannot afford for themselves.
