This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For my 6th grade students, prizes and rewards are everything, and it makes sense. As young people develop their habits, and their sense of right and wrong, it can be challenging to take responsibility for their actions. 6th graders are heavily influenced by their classmates' perceptions of themselves. They care about how they look in front of their classmates and friends.

What do they also care about and look forward to - PRIZES!

My students respond extremely well to PBIS (positive behavior intervention strategies), or when I reward them for following the class expectations or doing the right thing. They love snacks, fidget toys, and if they collect enough tickets, will be able to have a class party where we watch a movie.

Please help me give my students the rewards they deserve, and help their young brains to associate nice treats with doing good: helping classmates, being safe, respectful, and responsible, and following the high expectations I set for them.
