My Project
My students need a Cricut machine, laminator, a speaker, and art supplies to create an ambiance full of music, and that encourages and supports personal growth as well as social, emotional and mental well being.
In the classroom, students will use these supplies to do art therapy where they will not only be able to express themselves, but self-discover, relieve stress, build confidence and ultimately work towards becoming their best self.
Outside of the classroom, in our team space and our grade level hallway, students will be able to use the Cricut I have requested and other art resources to create visual spaces that promote and appreciate diversity, encourage compassion, and share empathy and kindness. These items range from “take what you need” bulletin boards, signs around our team and grade level space, kindness key chains, classroom banners, positive pencils, etc.
These resources will help support my students' social and emotional health by not only focusing on themselves, but others as well.
The negative effects of COVID and social distancing are evident in peer relationships, as well as each student's self-perception. However, giving my students these materials and opportunities will definitely help foster positive growth in many different areas.
